Ghost Corner

"Unique wines from an extreme terroir at the southernmost tip of Africa",  David Nieuwoudt, winemaker.

  • Inland from Cape Agulhas, and part of the Elim ward, at the southernmost tip of Africa, lie the Ghost Corner vineyards.
  • ‘Ghost Corner’ takes its name from the treacherous coastline where more than 130 ships were shipwrecked through the ages. Stormy, misty weather made it difficult to navigate, and here compass readings show no deviation between magnetic and true north.
  • This desolate and mysterious landscape inspired David Nieuwoudt to craft a range of wines that makes the most of the excellent growing conditions, cooling southeasterly breezes and extreme climate.
  • The deep lime-rich soil with plentiful slate and gravel deposits gives rise to the exceptional Ghost Corner range  – Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and The Bowline  – wines that linger on the palate, evoking a sense of mysteries past.
